Marketing on the internet is about using the internet to make money.  This is accomplished by to using the internet to generate leads, build a relationship with those leads and turn them (hopefully) into lifelong customers.   In turn if the information you provide is valuable to your customers they will be willing to buy your products (products you have created or affiliate products that you recommend) or join your team.

The most crucial part of that process is developing a relationship by offering the best value you can deliver in the information you share, whether that’s doing daily emails to your list or writing interesting and compelling content for you blog (kinda like this).

For most people this is easier said than done because most internet marketers face a massive stumbling block when it comes to WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT. In order to write a post on your website, you need to know where to find website and email content ideas  for your list  or to put on your blog to share with your readers

As you continue in your Internet Marketing career, you will learn something new every single day that will develop your Knowledge and Skills and build your experience. Some of your website content ideas or email ideas will come from the new things that you learn.  By passing this information on to your list/readers it delivers VALUE!

Below is a list (not an exhaustive list) of ways to find website content ideas for you blog, emails or articles:

  1. If your like me you get loads of emails each day so why not subscribe to other internet marketers lists to see what they are talking about and save the good stuff in a folder. It simple then just look through their emails when you hit a brick wall and are stuck for ideas.
  2. Facebook fan pages are a great place to find information check out the feeds that are relevant to Internet Marketing (or whatever your niche is) you will get lots of ideas this way.
  3. Think about what you’ve been doing and share it with your list. It maybe something new that you have learned recently it can be anything from broadening your mindset to learning a skill.
  4. Over time you will acquire a list of questions that you have been asked by your list.  Revisit the list for ideas.  For example why is a contact page important on your blog?  Or why is it important to brand yourself.
  5. You can find lots of ideas from non internet related sources like books you are reading or have read or movies you have seen or even songs you have listened to.

Try to keep the content you share focused on increasing your audience’s Skills (e.g. How to set up a blog or an autoreponder), Improving your Knowledge (e.g. The different types of marketing on the internet) or improving your Attitude (e.g. why having a positive mindset is so important)

The important thing is to be clear as you can be about the MESSAGE you are trying to convey a confused subscriber will not be with you very long.

Another vital component is to try to be consistent with your writing. Try to email your list on a daily basis (this can be very challenging) and post to your blog once or twice a week. The secret if there is one is to get into a routine of finding and sharing content and before you know it, it will become second nature!

Today, the Internet gives us an amazing array of facilities to track our progress and ultimately make those key changes to improve performance and productivity.

Florida 2011

Florida 2011 was epic now other way to describe. I went with my family: my gorgeous wife Jeanette my two sons Matthew and Francis and Francis’s fiancé Michaela. We ran in to a couple of teething problems going out, the seats we booked weren’t in fact booked and we ended up sitting separately. We spent quite a while trying to sort this out but to no avail We also had the lounge booked at Manchester but it took so long trying to sort out the seats we didn’t have any time to enjoy the lounge but no big deal really. It’s a 9hr flight to Florida from the UK but I was armed with my trusty Kindle (which didn’t turn out to be that trusty in the end) and an absolutely fantastic read (the last in a series of 10) called the Crippled God, A Tale of the Malzan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erickson. If you’re into fantasy (I love it) this is a must up there with Donaldson, Tolkien as such like. I also brought my tablet with a couple of films on which worked out just great. Before I knew it we were touching down in Florida heading for the car hire pickup.

The cars are much bigger in the US we upgraded to an 8 seater Chevrolet a fantastic ride so easy to cruise about. The service was spot on they really couldn’t have been any more helpful it was a pleasure doing business with them and yes I would use them again.

The holiday was awesome we stayed just off International drive. Its always busy on Idrive always something to do it’s a great base for all the attractions. The attractions were what we came for the kids just love em so do we. No plan as such just enjoy ourselves (which is strange for me) cos I like to plan everything. Drive my wife up the wall. We did universal to death (the new harry potter ride is brill but so are many of the others), headed back on a couple of evenings to do Halloween Horror Nights. This must be the biggest fright night in the world bar none these guys really do know how to put a show on. If you ever go to Florida make sure you go over the Halloween period this is a must you will not regret it. you cant do Florida with out doing the Disney parks, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood studios, Blizzard each and Typhoon Lagoon and Down Town Disney.

We had the best time the accommodation was fantastic, the food was brill (ate too much of it so will need to go on a diet).

I was tired before I went on holiday long hours working over time it takes its toll. Feel brill now batteries recharged rearing to go. This was one of our best holidays see below a few of the pics in Florida 2011!! Hope you enjoy them.

Vacations, Jim Rohn and your Business!

Hope your having a great day.  I’m on a bit of a high today because the preparations for our  vacation to Florida on Friday are pretty much  done thanks to my lovely wife Jeanette.

I hate packing but Jeanette has made it in to  an art form.  A set number of days before we are due to leave she goes in to vacation mode she is 100% focused on the holiday and nothing  can put her off track. She just loves vacations  and getting ready for them is all part of the fun. She likes to pretend that its a chore but i know the truth she loves it.

Needless to say our cases have been packed and  locked since last week and her list of vacation  things to do is almost complete (except for the  stuff on the day) and she’s sort of chilled.  She  won’t be really chilled until we are on the plane  and taking off. This is one of her passions.

Thank god for Jeanette because I can Just turn  up and enjoy myself. I have to remember a good book or my Kindle and maybe my tablet for the plane but that’s it. Jeanette takes care of all the rest.

Now why am i telling you all this?

Because it got me thinking about what the famous  Jim Rohn said.

“I find it fascinating that most people plan  their vacation with better care than they do their lives”.

Its true!  How many people do you know who’s lives  are a car wreck but when holiday time  comes around they become the most organized enthusiastic people in the world.Everyone knows people like this.  Vacation time  arrives, the light comes on and they metamorphasise  (think that’s how you spell it) into an enthusiastic, well organized and focused vacationing machine armed with a carefully laid out plan to boot.But think on this….How successful would they be if after the vacation  they put the same effort, focus and  enthusiasm into educating themselves, getting a better job or starting a business?How much more successful would they be if they had this attitude and a mentor to encourage and nurture them to success?Unstoppable I think you’ll agree!!I can be that mentor,   I can help you through starting and building your own successful online business, you just need to want to do it badly enough.  Its no good if your not sure, Its no good if your thinking maybe I’ll do it, you need commitment and dedication to succeed.

The question is,

Companies are shedding jobs, businesses are failing what should you do?

Companies are shedding jobs, businesses are failing and it looks like the financial crisis is going to keep rolling on.

For those who have a job my advice is to  keep hold of it at all costs if you can. But that’s probably out of your control.  For those who are about to lose their job its get out of the jobs market and start looking at developing your own business so you have control over your future not some dude in an office that doesn’t even know you.

For those who have their own business which is struggling, is about fail or just isn’t making any money.  My advice is to look hard at what skills you have and turn them to another business.  The job market is dead so your only alternative is to diversify.  If you do make some money from  your business great keep it going but like i said diversify in to something else to manage the risk.  Its hard work I know but unless your business is rock and I mean rock solid its the only way.

That’s what I do, I work full time (but for how long is anyone’s guess).  I have a number of other things going on outside of work.  One of which is internet marketing which is doing very well even though it looks like we are heading in to another financial crisis.

Why is it doing well, because it really does work if you put the time and the effort in to learn how to do it properly.  There are thousands even millions of get rich quick schemes out there that most definitely do not work.  I know I’ve tried my share of them.

To be successful online you only need five things.

  1. A product that people want and need.
  2. A way to  market that product and get it out in front of as many people as possible.
  3. A payment system that delivers big check not the ten to twenty dollar checks that’s too much like hard work but the thousands of dollar checks.
  4. The best support for people who new to the business to get them over the initial learning curve and in to profit.
  5. A focus on the individual to help them get what they want from the business and and a community of like minded people to help them realize it.

That’s it in a nut shell. 

It doesn’t need it to be complex (the simpler the better) it just need to work and work consistently.

So if you unfortunately find yourself in one of the above categories, you are in a bit of a fix to say the least as no one is going to come running up to you to tell you that they have a job with the a great pay and conditions for you.  If your business is struggling the chances of you suddenly being presented with a new business in profit and ready to rock and roll is not looking too promising.

So why don’t  you just have a look at what i do?  I’m not going to say too much about it here but it could alleviate all the pain you find yourself in if you are prepared to put in some serious work.  Not only that but if you put in the work I will coach you in to making money fast.  Now theirs an offer you cant refuse!!

It’s a fact we all have to live with “in the online world change happens rapidly”.  Online, major changes happen over months and years, in most other industries it often takes decades for real change to percolate through.  This is well demonstrated with the rise of the Facebook phenomena, which has seen Facebooks meteoric rise to power in the massive internet marketplace.   To put things in to perspective Facebook only started in 2004 and is now estimated to be worth $50 billion and the main rival to Google. Many people said it was a fad but Facebook is here and here to stay and its power is such that it has the ability to influence greatly how people connect on line and how they go about making a whole myriad of choices.

There are over 500 million active users on Facebook.  If you are operating on line you are a  brave person if you can afford to ignore a potential client base of such massive proportions.  Facebooks main rival and competitor the all powerful Google must be running scared at the speed that Facebook has exploded its user base.

Google has built its reputation on its ability to provide the user with accurate information from its search results.  Indeed they had become so effective at this that they rose to totally dominate the search engine marketplace.   For years there was no effective rival.

Facebook is a very different proposition because its core function is about connectivity and interaction. What this means is that its users remain on the site for much longer periods (indeed some for hours on end).  There is a massive amount going on, on Facebook social proof abounds. It’s a place where people share there wants and needs openly. If this is the case doesn’t it make sense for business, your business to be a part of it?  If you can make your presence felt on Facebook you have a chance to get in front of untold potential customers if you can create a viral presence then you can truly harness the power of a global goliath through Facebook marketing one of the most powerful marketing platforms on the planet.

Of course there is a right way and a wrong way to approach Facebook marketing.  This is not a chance to spam people with your product, service or opportunity.  Remember, this is about relationship building.  Building relationships can attract fans if those relationships are nurtured properly your fans can become your future and long term customers.  Not only that but done properly these fans will spread your message virally for you if you offer them great value and an incredible user experience.

Work From Home Business Opportunity – Questions to ask!

Having burning desire to create a work from home business opportunity and actually being able achieve it are two very different things!

Whatever you do don’t make the mistake that many people do and give up your job!

My advice is don’t give your job and start your own home business unless you have absolutely no alternative or you are totally financially secure.

Be realistic here; starting a work-from-home business online or off-line is a BIG decision and needs thinking through very carefully.  You really need to set your business up and get it running and making money before you even think about quitting your job.

If you don’t have a job then your path is clear so make sure you work it and work it hard!

Questions are the answer!

  • Are you ready to start a home based business?
  • Have you researched and found out as much as you can about it?
  • Have you got complimentary skills for operating in the niche you have chosen?
  • Have you got money to spend and if so what is your budget?
  • Where are the priorities in your business to get it started?
  • Are you prepared set aside some time each and every day to educate yourself and become an expert in your chosen field?
  • Have you been honest with yourself about wanting to be self employed?
  • Are you able to set yourself tasks, set yourself deadlines and deliver to those deadlines?
  • Can you work on your own initiative or do you need someone watching and pushing you?

This list of questions is not extensive by any means but gives you an idea of what you should be asking yourself before you embark on a home based business venture.  If you can answer “yes” to them you may have what it takes to get a home based business off the ground.

Having your own home based business does not mean you will make money straight away, most people don’t.  So, the next question to ask yourself is; are you prepared to have your standard of living fall while your business is building and getting off the ground?

Work-from-home opportunities can be fantastic but the majority of home business owners initially work very long hours for little reward.  If you can you should try to make sure you have some other form of income to keep you afloat while you grow your business.

Have you thought about your education? Did you notice I said ‘education’ and not ‘training’?  There is a difference; educating yourself is a life-long process and that’s exactly what you’ve got with your own business, a life-long challenge.  You can’t afford to ease off; you need to be at the cutting edge and ahead of your competitors.  There is a fair amount you can learn on your own, in fact it’s essential that you learn the basics and learn them very well.  You will also need a good mentor. This is one of the key things and that’s where the difference lies between those people who start a business and fail and those who succeed.    It will cost you money as they don’t come cheap but the right mentor will make such a difference to you and your business. Make this a priority in your business.

I read a book once called “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff” by Richard Carson. This is an invaluable read, however, you must remember that some of the ‘small stuff’ is essential.  There are legal issues to be aware of, the financial side of your business like loans, cash flow, your credit, there are special licences or permits you may need too.  Whilst all these are definitely not wealth generating activities they really do need to be dealt with and not ignored.  You cannot know everything so my advice would be to seek advice on areas you are unsure of. This will help save you time and money.

Outsourcing is an area that most people totally neglect but it can be the difference between success and failure. Try to outsource whatever you can.  Sure, you have to pay for it but if you put a figure on your time you will see that the hours you spend trying to do those really complicated, difficult tasks or even some of the more mundane ones is just not cost effective. The quality of your work will be debatable too so leave it to the experts and leverage their time.  Outsource, outsource, outsource where and whenever you can!

So, are you ready for long hours that will often produce little or no immediate income?   Will you take the risk?  Have you got the balance right?  Will it be worth it?

After you have put your heart and soul into your home based business with a bit of luck you will have the success you deserve. You can now take the profit because you have taken the risk and earned it!  You take the credit for making the right decisions and making it work.  You get to feel like you’re on top of the world because you can now go to work when you want; you can work with who you want and where you want.  You’re the boss! You don’t need to waste valuable time in traffic jams or run the daily gauntlet of frustration just getting to and from your workplace, to say nothing about the expense! You can work from the comfort of your own home, take breaks when you want, vacation when you want.  You can decide how successful you are going too be and how much you are prepared to sacrifice to make it happen.

So, it really is all about asking questions because that’s how you ensure success.  As you find the right answers your business will take off and you will become more and more successful. Is it hard work?  Yes; but in my humble opinion very much worth the sacrifice.

Starting An Online Business

The difference between starting and running an online business and an offline business isn’t as great as you think.  You need to employ the same basic strategies to both if you want to succeed.  People starting an online business (newbie’s) often find it difficult to make any sort of an impression at first.  Because of this they start to think that if they use a different strategy or buy yet another course or latch on to the next big wave they’ll be successful. Succeeding in a new business is about learning the simple things well, having a consistent approach and being patient.  It’s not about trying to find the next magic bullet.  The internet is littered with people who have tried just that and failed. The following three tips will help you to understand some of the basic principles for a home business.

It’s you there interested in!

With the advent of social media, blogs video etc, etc you can’t be a closet online marketer.  You have to get out there and make an impression you have to brand yourself in everything that you do.  It’s simple; people get involved with people they trust.  Trust comes from people feeling that they know you or know about you.  If you want people to buy your products or join your business opportunity tell them about you first give them an opportunity to find out about you.  You have to decide what aspects of yourself you are willing to make public but if there’s not even a photo of you on your blog or on Facebook you’re not going to get very far because the trust will not be there.

You’re Goals

Most people who start an online business set some sort of goals to help them get going.  This may be in the form of a list or on a fancy spreadsheet or with some project type software.  I call these here and now goals.  They are essential to getting things going and building momentum.  The vast proportion of people however stop there they don’t think about how they will expand and grow in the future, where they want to be or how much money they want or need to earn.  Do you know what your medium and long term business goals are?  A good business person is always thinking about how to develop ideas and grow their business.  If you want to still be around in a year or two’s time you should look closely at setting some achievable and measurable goals for your online business.  You can’t see in to the future but you can project your vision there.  You can picture in your mind exactly where you want to be and put a plan in place and visualise it.

Getting an online business going can be very hard work but don’t let this scare you go after your dreams.  If you don’t who else will?

Track your businesses results

From day one track what you are doing and where your results are coming from. I didn’t do this when I started on my online business and oh what a big mistake that was.  If you don’t do this your business will suffer.  Time and energy and money will be wasted concentrating on strategies that are not working.  Tracking your results on Google analytics or other similar sites or with by copying data from your hosting account to a spreadsheets if that’s all you know how to do. It’s critical to you your online work to know metrics such as how many visits to you blogs or websites, how many page views, traffic sources and so on. From this information come the tweaks and changes that make your strategies successful.  Sometimes simple changes to what you are doing on line can make a huge difference to your results but you have to have the tracking information to be able to see where to make the changes. The internet is unique in that it provides a myriad of ways to track your progress and performance but most people don’t take advantage of it.
